When the original Food Festival committee decided it could no longer give the event the time and commitment it needed to be a success there was an opening for a dedicated group of enthusiastic volunteers who all had experience of organising events and had worked well together. We therefore picked up the gauntlet and put a plan in action to make the Festival a success but without needing funding from outside sources.
That was 2012 and since then the Fest has grown in size and popularity until it has now become a fixture in the food fest diaries, and it attracts visitors from across the West Country and beyond.
Held in our beautiful Grade 2 Listed Town Hall in Lee Road Lynton, and always on, the last Sunday in September our Fest now attracts exhibitors from across the West Country showcasing the wonderful food and drink produced in this spectacular part of the country.
Our exhibitors bring with them an enormous range of exciting food and drink for our visitors to try and buy. Everything from pies and pasties, jams, chutneys, wonderful meats and spices, cheese and cakes, kitchen ware, organic vegetables to locally produced gin, juices and the list goes on. Outside there are street food venders for every taste and ...the bar is open!!
We do not aim to make huge profits just to show what wonderful produce is available here in the West Country while at the same time supporting our Town Hall. The small profits we do make go to supporting small local events and clubs such as our Sailing Club, Over 60's and Children’s Christmas parties, Museum and so on.
We hope you will come along and enjoy the Lyn Food Festival with us.
